Most people may not know that crows can actually benefit agriculture by eating insects and larvae that damage crops. Crows are attracted to food scraps in garbage cans and compost piles, and easy pickings in gardens. Make it as hard as possible for them to raid. While crows have young in the nest and on the ground learning to fly, they may defend their nesting territory by dive-bombing other animals and people. This territorial behavior is only temporary and will quickly subside as the young fledge from the nest and learn to fly.
If possible, it is best to stay away from nesting areas until the young have fledged and the parents are no longer as protective.
Dive-bombing crows are using intimidation to keep what they think is a potential threat away from their young. They rarely hit their targets. Crow-proof Your Home Crows are attracted to food scraps in garbage cans and compost piles, and easy pickings in gardens. After a zombie apocalypse caused by too much screen time, S. By the end of the book, S. Buxton continues her genre-melding tale with sizzling wit and a deep knowledge of pop culture, sending S. In our conversation for The Seattle Times, Buxton, a nature lover with a brood of animals at home — a dog, two cats and a handful of backyard visitors, including a crow named T and a hummingbird who eats from her hand — revealed more about the themes of her new book, her love of all things corvid and when her passion for the natural world first began.
There has been such a warm welcome to S. I had so much fun with that and, as someone who grew up moving around the world and feeling like I lacked a cultural identity, I can relate to it. When we encounter S. The story continues where the first book left off. I love the idea of being able to distill a book into one sentence: We survive when we are seen. Does he find his place, or at least reconcile with who he is, in the second book?
We had their 2 classic dishes - the prosciutto wrapped chicken and the Lasagna. Both were awesome. Drinks were creative and yummy. Our 3d visit to this neighborhood gem. Oysters , Chicken and Beef Tenderloin all great. Lasagna is spicy. As always, service is attentive , efficient and personable. Highly recommended. Food was decent some good, some not quite good enough. But the noise was overbearing. We had to shout across the table to hear each other. Altogether unpleasant.
We had a large group before the ballet. With the benefit of a reservation from OpentTable we were able to get in, get seated, get our order in and have a great meal.
The staff was excellent and very helpful. The pork chop and steak were crowd favorites as was the hummus and roasted garlic appetizer. Definitely will use Crow as our launching off point for future evenings at the Seattle Center. Crow is a terrific place to eat on lower Queen Anne. My only complaints are that the seats are al rock hard straight up benches and it's not very comfortable. The lack of soft surfaces inside also make it much noisier so it's a little hard to have conversations.
But the food and service are excellent. This is one of the few restaurants where the baked chicken is a must, with it's perfectly crispy skin and juicy flavors served over fresh vegetables. I've been to The Crow several times and they always seem to impress me.
There is a simplicity to their menu but if you dive a little deeper you'll see the intricacies of each dish. This is my favorite place to eat in Lower Queen Anne. Eight of us had a great meal, good wine and lively conversation before going to the Seattle Rep to see "The Comparables".
The service was very prompt. Everyone ordered a different main course. All came as ordered. Wine list was not lengthy but very nice. We were separated from the main dining area by a glassed wall that allowed us to talk without disturbing others.
I had the risotto which was delicious. I highly recommend this gem near the Seattle Center. Crow is terrific. It has not gone the way of being trendy, or deconstructing dishes to make them new. The food is wonderful and reliable. It is always delicious. I had lasagne and it melted in my mouth. Smooth and creamy. The braised short ribs had been slow cooked and were falling from the bone. These came with mashed potatoes. Generous portions left no room for the tempting dessert menu.
All in all, a lovely evening. Go and experience it yourself. Limited menu. Sunday isn't a good day since they are out of many items. Didn't used to be that way. Great tasting vegetables and seafood. Nicely presented. Preparations highlighted the fresh ingredients instead of burying them with too many flavors. Not a place for young children.
We had the Risotto which was delicious and the lasagna, amazing one of those meals you really want to savor. Service is less crisp than Dhalia, yeah I know they're not related but it's late. Great location for the Center. Go you won't be disappointed. The Car crash was also tasty. Food great; service great. Lighting terrible. Can not see menu or food. If you want to have a terrible service and pay a fortune for it, Crow is your place to go. Since we arrived, we had to wait 15 minutes at the door for the hostess to come welcome us, despite having a reservation.
The waitress at our table seemed like she was being forced to work that night and didn't care for giving a good service at all.
