I worked at NCH for 17 years. I had many hats and many opportunities to advance in my field. I had a lot of mentors on the way. I made some lifelong friends also.

Changes in management and software systems for examples. We went from having great raises and bonuses to not getting them for over years! The pay is really low and not competitive. We were always short staffed and had a heavy load as a result. One good thing is the hospital is good for choosing a shift. They have 3 so there are really good if you can only work a certain shift.

Seniors picked favorites and you might be doing great if you were favorited but their opinion could change overnight and then you were set aside for their next favorite.

When I first started, I loved it and planned to stay for the remainder of my career. However, just shy of 2 years into being there, they hired a new DON for the unit. Everything went plummeting straight downhill. Many good nurses moved on because it became a completely hostile work environment and upper management refused to realize their error. Had a family work environment. My coworkers were amazing people who cared about one another. We had fun but also worked hard. The pay was on par for the position and the benefits were good.
